This ‘leaf’ is made using a combination of commercially synthetic yarn and homespun 100% wool yarn. It is representing the interdependence of the commercial industry and the independent business industry. The two are as interconnected and dependent on each other as the crocheted yarns are. People who have shops (say on Esty) could not do everything they need to without the help of commercial materials and those who make the material would have no need to with out the market for homemade items. The pineapple design made with the fuzzy yarn could also be symbolic of how the traditional and non-tradition are interconnected with each other. What is new and old today may someday become traditional, just as traditional things used to be new.
