Did you enjoy this project? We really liked staying after school and working on this project. It was fun working with our classmates and sharing ideas.
About: Our reasons for drawing our influential picture was that we were inspired by the hardships of all the African Americans that went through slavery, and the courage and selflessness of Harriet Tubman. Our drawing shows African Americans on the path to freedom.

About: On our artwork, we have “no” print all over. We have one of the gallows and a man (John Brown) getting hung. We have mountains and flowers. The whole background is blue. We are symbolizing John Brown and his journey to Harpers Ferry. Frederick Douglas, in his speech, says “He may not have ended the war that ended slavery, but he did start the war that ended slavery.”

About: Our artwork looks very colorful. It has black/brown soldiers, blue/white/red strips of fabric (we weaved it and it represents the flag). It has purple/yellow flowers on it, and different sparkles. We are trying to show that we are all equal. We used colorful fabric, sparkles, paint (yellow, purple, black, brown, red, and blue). It taught me that when you involve history in your artwork, it makes it a lot better.
